Agreed. By August its uses and flaws will be very much established and then it becomes essentially free. Acquiring it with in game currency and not faffing around figuring out its use as others will have done that already sounds fine to me.

Hi there, just a question. I am on foot on an planet with brain trees. I am able to shoot rsources from tree. I know that i can collect with an SRV, but is it possible to clollect when i am on foot?

Nope. You can only collect Odyssey materials while on foot. If you want to collect raw materials from brain trees, you need an SRV (or a ship with collector limpets, moved beyond brain tree draw distance).

Thx for quick answer. But an other question. I tried it with my ship ( having collector limpets) but i cant focus the materials in the brain trees. With a SRV, you can focus the material as target ( this works easy). But when i am inside my ship i get no rectangle that i can focus with the (t) key on keyboard. Is there a trick?

Yes, there is a trick. Using the limpet method, you use flechettes or flak launchers on a ship and fire them into the brain tree forest to dislodge the materials from the trees. Then you move away slightly (until the brain trees despawn, but not so far that the materials despawn). Then you launch collector limpets, not targeting anything, and letting them collect the things they want to collect (excluding anything you have told them to ignore).

The point of despawning the trees is so that the collector limpets don't get hung up or stuck in them.

I don't generally like this method, personally, but there is no question that it is the fastest way to collect raw materials. Watch the farming videos on this reddit post to see how it's done.

So, amidst the chaos of the new Python early access and buying pre-built ships(some further details here - all looks perfectly fine to me), I totally forgot there’s the Frontier livestream with more Powerplay rework details going.

Will be curious to hear what people say on the details shared(and what those details are)…

What?! G5 dirty drag drives?! This is becoming more interesting

It’s supposed to be an AX starter ship, so in that limited scenario I can understand it. The miner Keelback is totally unengineered as far as I can see.

And none of the other modules (on the Chieftain) are engineered, except the gauss which are singular use modules, so that’s something to keep in mind for it. Plus however those engineering changes go through…

Thx a lot, i will check this when i am back in bubble. Need to buy a flak. At moment i am on a exploration trip. Again, many thx for your help.

Sure? I can see pre-engineered mining laser even despite fact for that particular module you must obtain system permit

EDIT: But at least in case of Chieftain, they did something correct-that drives. Because without engineered thrusters you dont have high chance to survive

Oh, those. Probably the most insignificant module of anything engineered, manually or preset by Frontier. So insignificant that I actually forgot about it.

Putting that aside, those are fine too. I mean, who's going to complain about a modified mining laser being offered. Not like it's, like, the pre-engineered FSDs being provided(and even that could be argued to not have a hugely significant gameplay impact - the main benefit of it is having fast boot alongside the increased range, and I'd only see that really change anything in a PvP scenario where the reboot missiles are involved... so, not extremely impactful for a new player in most likely scenarios).

Anyway, I'm being told the next ship variant will be a Type 8. Eurgh.

What would a Type-8 even be? A Type-7 with a ship kit and extra module space?
Somehow I doubt people are gonna queue up to pay 16250 ARX to get that one 3 months early...

To me, it's not so much about early access, it's about getting something a bit more interesting than different laser colors. I bought stuff then and when to support the game, seeing how much time I spend online, and that there's no monthly fee or such. I'd rather pay for something halfway useful than a new voice for my carrier - or something like that.

In my opinion a new ship doesn't always have to be better than something existing, even something with a little more character would be interesting. I'd love a more pirating orientated one, for example.

I'd gladly donate my Arx to someone else if there was a way to do it lol, I've no idea what to do with them. Like, 6100 or something.
