The point of despawning the trees is so that the collector limpets don't get hung up or stuck in them.
I don't generally like this method, personally, but there is no question that it is the fastest way to collect raw materials. Watch the farming videos on this reddit post to see how it's done.

And none of the other modules (on the Chieftain) are engineered, except the gauss which are singular use modules, so that’s something to keep in mind for it. Plus however those engineering changes go through…

Kasumi GotoThe miner Keelback is totally unengineered as far as I can see.
Sure? I can see pre-engineered mining laser even despite fact for that particular module you must obtain system permit
EDIT: But at least in case of Chieftain, they did something correct-that drives. Because without engineered thrusters you dont have high chance to survive

Oh, those. Probably the most insignificant module of anything engineered, manually or preset by Frontier. So insignificant that I actually forgot about it.
Putting that aside, those are fine too. I mean, who's going to complain about a modified mining laser being offered. Not like it's, like, the pre-engineered FSDs being provided(and even that could be argued to not have a hugely significant gameplay impact - the main benefit of it is having fast boot alongside the increased range, and I'd only see that really change anything in a PvP scenario where the reboot missiles are involved... so, not extremely impactful for a new player in most likely scenarios).
Anyway, I'm being told the next ship variant will be a Type 8. Eurgh.

Somehow I doubt people are gonna queue up to pay 16250 ARX to get that one 3 months early...

Bainsey7What would a Type-8 even be? A Type-7 with a ship kit and extra module space?

To me, it's not so much about early access, it's about getting something a bit more interesting than different laser colors. I bought stuff then and when to support the game, seeing how much time I spend online, and that there's no monthly fee or such. I'd rather pay for something halfway useful than a new voice for my carrier - or something like that.
In my opinion a new ship doesn't always have to be better than something existing, even something with a little more character would be interesting. I'd love a more pirating orientated one, for example.
